Hip Hop Foundation
Hip Hop Foundation is the educational arm of Rising Styles and is run by our partner Audio Active.
Hip Hop Foundation kicks off on Friday 25th July with a Taster Day at Brighton Youth Centre. Young people between 11 and 19 yrs of age will be able to meet the Hip Hop artists running the project and get involved in the workshops, including Rap and Lyric Writing, Djing & Turntablism, Production, Breaking, Graffiti Art and more.
Attendees will have the opportunity to sign up for their FREE space on the weekly workshops happening throughout summer 08. Participants will be part of an exciting project that will include:
• Master Classes with Hip Hop artists at the cutting edge of their discipline.
• An on-line collaborative exchange with young people working with Hip Hop Association and Abstract Academy, our partners in the USA. The exchange will produce collaborative pieces of music by young people from Brighton and New York.
• An event course where young people will organise and run their own showcase event for the programme.
• A mentor training scheme where experienced and advanced participants of the project will learn how to teach and support other young people taking part in Hip Hop Foundation workshops.
• A Graffiti Art exhibition of young peoples work at RareKind Gallery.
