Sri/Snub23/Sinna1 /MNKY

The weather cleared up enough on Tuesday to enable us to get started on Friezebox. Snub23 and Sinna1 of Grafik Warfare got going on one side while Sri started a panel and MNKY painted us a monkey (of course). It was a good day. Thanks to all involved (artists and volunteers especially).

We got rained off on Wednesday but were out there again today (Thurs) with some fine work by Sri, Pinky, Mishfit and The Osh.

Check the Photo Gallery for pics, of which more will be coming soon.

Frieze Box Rained Off

Monday, July 7th, 2008

Brighton along with many parts of the country has been suffering from a generous helping of wind and rain over night and all morning, so we’ve had to pull the plug on Frieze Box for today. The forecast for the rest of the week isn’t looking too good but we will get out there and throw some paint up on canvas as soon as the weather clears. We hope to see you down in Jubilee Square some time this week.

Don’t forget that there’s plenty of other events taking place in and around the city that are in doors and well worth a visit.
All day today at the Sallis Benney Theatre at the University of Brighton we’re screening a selection of Hip Hop inspired films. One £5 ticket will get you in to see one or all of them. Download our programme and check out the schedule. The first Screening is at midday.
Also at the University we have the 3rd Dimension Graffiti Sculpture exhibition featuring work from Carlos ‘Mare139′ Rodriguez, Zeus and Matt Harriman. Mare139 will be working on a new piece in the gallery space all this week, you’re welcome to come down and check out the progress.

Make sure you get your tickets for the Rising Styles Block Party which is this coming Saturday 12th July on Brighton Beach Front. The all day concert features loads of UK and International Hip Hop artists and is an event not to be missed. Get your advance tickets here, it’ll be more on the door if you don’t.

Lyrics Born @ Komedia Brighton 21st July

Friday, July 4th, 2008

Photobucket

Groundbreaking, charismatic, and stylish – Tokyo-born Bay Area rapper Lyrics Born makes hip-hop that’s more than just boasts about bling, that’s more about funk than funds.

His beats are carefully crafted from years of pillaging rare soul, funk and rock records – his is the kind of robust, freewheeling hip-hop that followers of Outkast and Jurassic 5 will love.

”’Everywhere at Once’ … a focused and thoughtfully crafted party record that finds Lyrics Born employing a live band to work up his newfound love of shimmering, shining pop-funk, even as he expands his hoop-jumping, rat-a-tat rhymes.” Billboard

Support Stephanie McKay, currently working with Basement Jaxx and singer for Oi Va Voi.

£12.00 (20 tickets available @ £10 quoting ‘RISING STYLES’ when booking)
